After the Interview

After having an interview, you may wait days or weeks to hear if you were successful or not. In the duration here are some advice on what you can do in the meantime prior to your interview.

  • Write a letter to the interviewers. This suggestion is one of the most popular follow up where it gives you a chance to thank the interviewers for taking the time to interview you. Moreover in this letter or email you can deliberate your interest in the job and remind them of your qualifications. This can be done a few days later or even the day of.
  •  Go over the interview in your mind (Reflection): Usually after the interview you can assure that almost everyone reflects back on his or her interview. This gives you the chance to think about the pros and cons of your interview. By doing this you can discover what you may need to improve or work on for the next time.
  •  Follow-up call: A follow up call can be important say if your interviewer had either mentioned that they will give you call or not. Depending on the situation the employer can forget to give you a call back or they might just be busy with their own job. By simply doing a follow-up call this can remind the employer, and makes you look determined for the job opening. It never hurts to call and check up the job status hiring process.

Weather its yours first time or fifth time or tenth time, going for an interview can be scary and nerve wracking. Maria Garcia an author for "The Interview Survival kit" provides four main key tips that can seal the deal at your upcoming interview.

1. Understanding that this interview is for you, for a position you chose to want to work for.
2. Treating the interview like an exam; therefore you should be prepared for it. Moreover, studying, practicing, rehearsing, and overall preparing yourself in order to successfully pass this interview just like you would for an exam.
3. Making and providing a good first impression, and leaving with a strong ending, such as making the employer feel that you are the best fit for the job. By having proper etiquette and presentation are simple ways to give a good first impression
4. (Optional) Provide one or two questions for your employer at the end of the interview/discussion. By doing this, it makes it look like you have put thought into your interview and also that you are genuinely interested in the company.

These four tips are all some of the positive suggestions and ways to have a successful interview.
